D.A. warns about mail solicitors
The Consumer Affairs Office of the Santa Cruz County District Attorney warns that county residents might receive mail solicitations that read “Get a copy of your Grant Deed for only $157.00.” The letter then claims that homeowners are at risk of losing their homes overnight.
The letter appears to be from a government agency, but it is not.
Consumer affairs warns residents to disregard the offer. Grant deeds are available for a few dollars from the county recorder’s office.
People are urged to talk with consumer affairs before responding to any questionable solicitations or billings.
