Cabrillo seeks bond oversight
Cabrillo College seeks representatives for the Cabrillo College Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee, which will oversee the spending of a $118 million general-obligation bond passed by voters in March 2004.
Four positions are open, each with a different qualification — an active member of a business group, an active member of a taxpayer group, a member of a student group or club, and an “at-large” member. The deadline to apply is July 9.

BC library supporters wanted
Library advocates hope to gather a group of children and adults to walk for the Boulder Creek Library in the Boulder Creek Fourth of July parade, which begins at 10 a.m. July 4. After meeting at Foster’s Freeze, 110 Mountain St., participants will walk to the theme of “Living Books” and represent the book “Rainbow Fish” with a large fish poster.
Children are invited to help create the fish during a session from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at Boulder Creek Library, 13390 W. Park Ave.

Cub Scouts sell flags
Cub Scout Pack 623 in Boulder Creek will sell U.S. flags for $2 apiece from 7:30 to 9 a.m. July 4 at Boulder Creek Fire Protection District, 13230 Highway 9. The Scouts will march in the parade at 10 a.m.
Lazywoods Road closed Monday
Santa Cruz County Public Works will close Lazywoods Road in Felton to all through traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, June 28, while crews work on the road.
Homeless vets get help
Santa Cruz County was awarded 25 rental vouchers for homeless veterans by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The vouchers, combined with some the county received earlier, will help as many as 60 homeless veterans in Santa Cruz County.
Voucher holders will pay 30 percent of their adjusted gross monthly income in rent, and the housing authority will pay the remainder on a market-rate rental unit. According to the county, market rates for apartments in the county average $826 for a studio, $1,001 for a one-bedroom and $1,292 for a two-bedroom.
