Baymonte donates hundreds of boxes to needy
Baymonte Christian School collected 623 shoeboxes of hygiene supplies, toys and small clothing items that will travel around the world as part of Operation Christmas Child, a nationwide effort to help needy children.
“A box like this for kids out in the bush would be like going to Disneyland,” said Baymonte’s Jody Jones who organized the project this year.
After setting a goal of 500 boxes this year, Baymonte shattered the mark by collecting nearly twice as many boxes as last year’s total of 361.
The boxes will be shipped to boys and girls in developing nations.

Scotts Valley fireman in accident
Scotts Valley firefighter and paramedic Christopher Stubendorf and his father were injured in a hit-and-run collision on Highway 46 in Lost Hills on Nov. 14.
Stubendorf, 34, of Paso Robles, emerged from the head-on crash with two broken legs and a broken arm. His father, Richard Stubendorf, 61, of Scotts Valley, also was injured.
A 1993 Honda Accord tried to pass cars going eastbound on Highway 46 but did not return to the eastbound lane in time and ran into the 2010 Mini Cooper driven by Christopher Stubendorf.
The other car was driven by 27-year-old Juan Rodriguez Villa of Coachella. After the crash, Villa was taken from the site by his brother, who was driving in front of him, to John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Indo, which is about 300 miles away.
