MCT announces benefit performance to support BC Brewery staff
Mountain Community Theater recently announced that it is will do its part to help support the workers at the Boulder Creek Brewery who have lost their jobs due to the fire that destroyed the restaurant in the early morning of March 28.
In addition to inviting audience members attending each of the remaining nine performances of “Damn Yankees” to donate to support the Brewery employees — which MCT will match — all of the proceeds from the show’s Friday, April 10 performance will be donated to support the Brewery employees.

Delays announced for Lompico Road bridge repairs
The Santa Cruz County Department of Public Works recently announced that Lompico Road, just south of Creekwood Drive, will be reduced to one lane with stop signs through approximately June 1.
These traffic control measures are necessary for upcoming bridge repairs. Public works staff advised the motoring public to avoid this area if possible.

Scotts Valley elementary schools announce kindergarten roundup
Kindergarten registration is now open in Scotts Valley Unified School District for both Brook Knoll and Vine Hill elementary schools.
Registration is taking place at the school office at each site between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesdays.
The Kindergarten Parent Information Night for Brook Knoll will be on Wednesday, April 8, at 6:30 p.m., in the computer lab.
The Kindergarten Parent Information Night for Vine Hill Elementary will be held on Thursday, April 16, at 6:30 p.m., in Room 1. Both meetings are for parents only.

Air pollution district announces vehicle emissions grant program
On Wednesday, March 18, the Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District announced that it will be accepting applications for the Motor Vehicle Emission Reduction Grant Program.
The district is encouraging people to submit grant proposals for direct emission reduction projects, such as vanpools, traffic signal coordination, roundabout construction, and electric vehicle replacement projects.
To help applicants prepare, district staff will host a pair of free workshops that will cover project eligibility, application assistance, and information as to scoring and grant selection.
The first meeting will take place at the air district offices at 24580 Silver Cloud Court in Monterey, on Wednesday, April 22, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
The second meeting will take place the following day from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Ecology Action, located at 877 Cedar Street, Suite 240, in Santa Cruz.
