Youth ensemble singers and musicians honored
Every year, the California Music Educators Association sponsors honor ensembles for the Central Coast.
Students are adjudicated according to skill on their instrument or voice. Students that are accepted join other students from around the Central Coast region for performances held at Salinas High School and Hartnell College.
This year’s CMEA Honor Band students from Scotts Valley High School were Kate Cellucci and Natasha Ahrweiler. From Scotts Valley Middle School was Matthew Sims-Johnson.
San Lorenzo Valley High School student Gage Miller was also named to the Honor Band, as were SLV Middle School students Charlotte Bell, Malakai Lawton, and Ben Nye.
For the CMEA Honor Choir was Josh Olson from Scotts Valley High School; Onjolie Silva-Padovan, Genevieve Bellavance, Elleda Spitzer, Anika Mistry, Carolyn Burnett, Gabrielle Sprunck, and Matthew Sims-Johnson were named from Scotts Valley Middle School; Students Rowan Nolan and Cameron White were selected from San Lorenzo Valley High School, and Stoli Rohrkemper was chosen from SLV Middle School.
Redwood Mountain Faire accepting applications
The Redwood Mountain Faire is scheduled to return May 30 and 31 to Roaring Camp in Felton.
Artists and crafters who create their own goods are encouraged to apply for flat-rate booth space at the Faire, due no later than March 15.
Special reduced-cost spaces for non-profit/service group information booths are also available, as are applications for food vendors. Commercial information booth space is not available.
The 2014 Faire provided a record $50,000 to local non-profit and service organizations. Applications and information are available online at www.redwoodmountainfaire.com. For further information, call Hallie at 588-5628.
MCT to hold auditions for ‘The Madwoman of Chaillot’
Mountain Community Theater, a local non-profit organization, recently announced it will hold auditions for the upcoming production of “The Madwoman of Chaillot,” a poetic satire by Jean Giraudoux, and directed by Kylan Thureockes. 
Auditions will be held on Feb. 23-25, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Park Hall, located at 9370 Mill Street in Ben Lomond.

Senior bocce sign-ups start next week
The Scotts Valley Senior Center is looking for seniors over the age of 50 to sign up for Spring bocce teams. Signups run from Feb. 17 to March 6 at the Skypark Recreation Center, located at 361 Kings Village Road in Scotts Valley.
Cost includes $2 fees per weekly game and an annual $20 membership in Scotts Valley Senior Center.
Morning games are played once each week, from March 30 through June 8, Monday through Friday at Skypark’s bocce courts. There are limited openings, and beginners and new players are welcome.
