He fills the gap left by Jane Wycoff, who resigned from the board in February because of health concerns.
The next board meeting will begin at 7 p.m. May 18 at the district headquarters, 11255 Lompico Road, in Felton.

Burn season ends
Friday, April 30, is the last day of the backyard burn season in Santa Cruz County.
Between May 1 and Nov. 30, backyard burning and development burning (fires to dispose of dry vegetation cleared from commercial or residential developments) are not allowed.
Summer and fall burning is prohibited because of increased air pollution and the extreme fire danger during those months.
As an alternative to burning, the Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution District encourages using grazing animals, weekly green-waste pickup, composting, chipping or taking waste vegetation to landfills, where it will be chipped into mulch.
