FireSafe Council completes latest HIZ home assessor training

The FireSafe Council of Santa Cruz County has completed its latest HIZ home assessor training and has broadened its reach south to meet the greater needs and range of Santa Cruz County, from Boulder Creek and Summit areas down through Aptos and Corralitos.

There are now about 25 trained volunteer home assessors to give free, confidential consultations to the local community with home hardening and defensible space information.

The purpose of the FireSafe Council of Santa Cruz County is to educate and mobilize the people of Santa Cruz County to protect their lives, homes, community and environment from wildfire.

For those who haven’t already received a free, confidential home assessment to learn best practices for home hardening and defensible space for their property, sign up at firesafesantacruz.org/HIZ and one of the volunteers will schedule an appointment.
