SLV Museum announces Artist-in-Residence programs featuring local painter

San Lorenzo Valley Museum has announced its upcoming Artist-in-Residence programs with local artist Bailey Rios.

Rios, an oil painter, began his residency with the museum at the beginning of June and has been working on a series of oil paintings that depict contributions of the erased lives of marginalized BIPOC workers. He will be presenting an artist talk this Saturday, July 20, from 3-4pm, at the Grace Episcopal Gallery, 12547 Highway 9, in Boulder Creek.

Rios’ body of work created during his summer residency at the museum will be on display at the Grace Episcopal Gallery from Aug. 2 through Sept. 29. These works, on large canvases, depict local historical stories in vivid-color oil paintings.

An AiR at the Exhibition Reception is set for Friday, Aug. 2, 4-6pm, at the gallery. There will also be a two-day oil painting workshop on Aug. 3-4; registration is required.

Artist-in-Residence programs are free to the public. Visit slvmuseum.org for more information.
