Bay Federal Credit Union’s Haste re-elected to Hope Services Board

Bay Federal Credit Union announced that Cameron Haste, executive VP and COO, has been re-elected to the Board of Directors of Hope Services, one of the Bay Area’s largest nonprofit organizations providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Headquartered in San Jose, Hope Services has been serving the community for over 70 years and currently operates across the Bay Area, including Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito counties—regions also served by Bay Federal Credit Union. Hope Services’ wide-reaching impact includes job training, employment, counseling and community living support for thousands of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Haste’s continued service on the Hope Services Board underscores Bay Federal Credit Union’s commitment to community impact, inclusion and empowerment. His financial expertise and leadership help guide Hope Services in its mission to improve quality of life for people with developmental disabilities through skill-building, advocacy and support programs.

“It’s an honor to continue serving on the Hope Services Board,” Haste said. “This organization plays a critical role in helping individuals with developmental disabilities live meaningful, fulfilling lives. I am proud to contribute to their mission and to represent Bay Federal in supporting such essential work across our tri-county community.”

Haste also serves as board chair for Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County and vice chair of the SLVUSD Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee (Measure S). His past leadership roles include board chair for Hope Services, president of the San Lorenzo Valley Rotary Club and involvement with various nonprofit organizations across the region.

Encompass announces CEO leadership transition

Encompass Community Services announced Oct. 17 that Shellee Stopera will be stepping down from her role as CEO, effective immediately.

“We thank Shellee for her contributions over the past six months and wish her the very best in her future endeavors,” said Elaine Johnson, chair of the Encompass Board of Trustees. “We are grateful for her service.”

Stopera shared with the Board that, upon reflection, Encompass is not the right long-term professional fit for her at this time. The Board stated that it respects her decision and appreciates the time and leadership she offered during her tenure.

In response, the Encompass Board of Trustees has unanimously appointed Kim Morrison as interim CEO. Morrison has served as the agency’s chief financial officer for eight years and led Encompass as interim CEO earlier this year after Monica Martinez stepped down to assume her elected position on the Board of Supervisors.

The Board and leadership team stated they remain focused on upholding the organization’s long-standing values, strengthening internal culture and ensuring continued delivery of high-quality care to community members across Santa Cruz County.

“We remain committed to serving the children, families and individuals who rely on Encompass every day,” Johnson said. “With resilience and purpose, we will continue to move forward and honor the mission that has guided this organization for more than 50 years.”
