Massage parlor sting

On January 29, 2015, the Santa Cruz Police Department Neighborhood Enforcement Team conducted an undercover human trafficking and prostitution sting focusing on illegal acts of prostitution in local massage businesses. The operation was borne out of community complaints and suspicions about the activity occurring in the businesses.

Residential burglary and fencing operation busted

Two suspects who fenced thousands of dollars worth of stolen items including electronics, high-end bikes and jewelry were arrested by Santa Cruz Police at the end of January. A stolen iPad led officers directly to the 76 Gas Station on Mission Street and Walnut Avenue where the fencing operation was discovered.

Sheriff’s department leading future of policing

There was standing room only when Congresswoman Anna Eshoo of the 19th Congressional District spoke at the end of January about the 21st Century Policing Policy. She congratulated the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Department for being the first in California to adopt, in its entirety, the policing policy developed by the White House's leading law enforcement experts.
