Bargetto Winery representative Addison Morphy chats with Patricia Schroeck of Healthy Chocolate and a guest Saturday, Oct. 10, at the second Scotts Valley Wine & Chocolate Festival at the Scotts Valley Community Center. The wineries and chocolatiers split the proceeds with the Scotts Valley Senior Center, which netted $1,800 from the event.

A memorial service will be Saturday in Port Orchard, Wash., for Chester Eugene “Red” Elkins, whose life centered on the sport and business of bowling in Northern California for much of the latter half of the 20th century.

Eight months ago, Ricky Dahill was crossing a street in Folsom when a drunken driver ran a red light and nearly ended his life. The accident left Dahill, 25, with broken bones and head injuries so severe that doctors kept him in a coma for three weeks.
