New to the long list of recreational opportunities for swimmers, now there is the provision available to assist disabled persons to enjoy the warm water. The 10-week program, Adaptive Water Therapy, is now available for people who can benefit from moving their bodies in the warm water.

In order to serve 44,000 customers in the Felton and Santa Cruz area, PG&E has had to activate “the largest portable LNG (Liquid Natural Gas) job in the known universe,” according to Austin A. Hastings, and he was only partly joking. Hastings is PG&E’s Professional Engineer / Senior Manager of the LNG/CNG Engineering & Operations Group. Starting in mid-August, fifty-one of his department have been working on the project, most of them on the Graham Hill Road cordoned-off secure site near the Roaring Camp Railroad and San Lorenzo Lumber. It was a little boy’s paradise on Tuesday, February 23, in the front parking lot of the Cowboy Bar & Grill on Highway 9 in Felton. The outdoor space at the Boys & Girls Club in Scotts Valley has a brand-new turf playfield thanks to a partnership between the San Francisco 49ers and Bothman Construction with funding from an NFL Foundation grant.

On July 23rd, the City Council of Scotts Valley held a Town Hall dedicated to supporting local business through the latest string of closures, which they predicted would be enforced within a week.  The meeting took place just in time, as five days later, Santa Cruz County was placed on the COVID state monitoring list for three days.  As of July 28th, for three weeks, indoor activities taking place in gyms, worship centers, hair and nail salons, non-essential offices, shopping malls, and protests are canceled.  Throughout the meeting, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Danny Reber, City Manager Tina Friend, Vice Mayor Derek Timm, and Mayor Randy Johnson spoke of ways to support our community through these next trying weeks, and also answered questions from small business owners.
