The Brookdale Inn and Spa, formerly the Brookdale Lodge, is once again the property of the State Bank of India, after no one was willing to pony up the $3.2 million minimum bid at a trustee auction last month.

Staffers from the County of Santa Cruz presented two options last week that would determine two drastically different futures for the struggling Lompico County Water District.

Backyard burn ban rescinded

Despite protests from Boulder Creek residents asking the County of Santa Cruz Zoning Administrator to completely kill the project, Verizon Wireless was given the opportunity to revamp its plan to build a 50-foot cellular tower in downtown Boulder Creek.

At the Thursday, Dec. 5 meeting of the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission, the body announced which projects in the county would receive a share of approximately $14 million in Federal transportation funds.
