With little fanfare, the Scotts Valley City Council voted to approve the annual city budget for the 2013-2014 fiscal year at its Wednesday, June 19 meeting.

Ten years after they turned their tassels and tossed their caps, members of Scotts Valley High School's inaugural graduating class, the Class of 2003, reunited at Bruno's Barbecue in Scotts Valley on Saturday, June 29.

California become the 32nd state to adopt the Common Core Standards when it took on the educational guidelines in August 2010. Nearly three years later, implementation on the district level is the next hurdle to integrating the program, which now dictates curriculum benchmarks in 45 states nation-wide.
