Scotts Valley responds to police deaths

The deaths of Santa Cruz Police Department officers Sgt. Loren “Butch” Baker and Detective Elizabeth Butler were remembered Thursday, March 7, as their funeral procession headed through Scotts Valley on Highway 17 toward San Jose.

On Wednesday, March 20, residents of the unincorporated areas of Santa Cruz County will have had a full year to adjust to a law banning the distribution of plastic, grocery-style bags — part of an effort to reduce littering and encourage reusable bags.

Death notice: Elaine (Crittendon) Skloot

Elaine (Crittendon) Skloot, 77, mother-in-law of Ben Lomond resident Diana Rudrow, died in Fremont on March 2. A private celebration of life is planned for Saturday, March 16, at Elliston Vineyards in Sunol. Marjorie Ann Roussopoulos: May 30, 1928 — March 9, 2013

A memorial service will be Saturday, March 16, for longtime Bonny Doon resident Marjorie Ann Roussopoulos, who died Saturday, March 9, at her home in Bonny Doon. She was 84.

A Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated Feb. 27 for longtime Ben Lomond resident Marcelle Van Hulle, who died peacefully at the age of 98.
