The way Americans vote has changed in many ways in 60 years, as voting machines, electronic counting systems and new registration methods have been introduced. But one thing has not changed: Since 1952, Connie Adkins has been at polling places to greet voters.

A new play structure donated by the Scotts Valley Educational Foundation was dedicated at Brook Knoll Elementary School on Friday, Sept. 7. The Foundation donated $23,000 for the structure that will serve students in kindergarten through 5th grade.
