Schools welcome new staff, programs for 2012-13

As the last days of summer approach, students, teachers and administrators in Scotts Valley and the San Lorenzo Valley are hard at work preparing for the upcoming academic year. Below is an update of what changes have been made on various school campuses since students vacated them in June.

Water district employee retires

Man arrested for sex with 13-year-old

A hearing in Santa Cruz Superior Court is set for Friday, Aug. 3, for a 20-year-old transient who was arrested in Felton last week for allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old girl.

Art and Wine in Scotts Valley this weekend

For the 13th year in a row, the Scotts Valley Art and Wine Festival will act as a showcase for the city’s local artists, vintners, craftspeople, brewers and chefs at Skypark.

Steven Wayne Dennis Dec. 4, 1954 — July 19, 2012

A memorial service was held this week for lifelong Felton resident Steven Dennis, who died unexpectedly this month in Santa Cruz. He was 57.
