Corinne Roland and Damian Moore, both of Boulder Creek, will be wed on Sept. 2, 2012, at Byington Winery in Los Gatos.

A memorial service will be Saturday in Port Orchard, Wash., for Chester Eugene “Red” Elkins, whose life centered on the sport and business of bowling in Northern California for much of the latter half of the 20th century.

It takes several minutes for Shar Santos to make her way through the students’ lunch area at Brook Knoll Elementary School. Every few steps, children run up their former teacher and newly minted principal — “Ms. Santos, Ms. Santos!” — for a quick hug or a friendly hello.
