Norovirus is on the Rise in California

The California Department of Public Health Director and State Public Health Officer Dr. Karen Smith stated that California is experiencing an increase in norovirus cases, commonly referred to as stomach flu or winter vomiting disease. CDPH has confirmed 32 outbreaks of norovirus in California since October 1.

Have you had your flu shot?

If you have not, don’t worry, the flu vaccine is still available. But it does take about two weeks for the vaccine to fully protect an individual from the flu, so if you have forgotten to get this done in the fall, better think about getting it now.

Postage-free voting

The more than 91,000 voters in Santa Cruz County who have been mailed ballots for the November Presidential Election won’t have to hunt for a postage stamp to return their ballot, because postage is now paid for Santa Cruz County voters. The Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors this summer approved a County Clerk/Elections budget with enough money specifically to cover the cost of return postage for vote-by-mail ballots. There are now several options for returning a vote-by-mail ballot.Voters may mail it in the postage-paid envelope.
