Alva ‘June’ Toussaint July 29, 1921 — Feb. 11, 2012
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held in Santa Cruz on Saturday, Feb. 25, for Scotts Valley resident Alva “June” Toussaint, who died this month. She was 90 years old.
Fitness drink hits shelves
For the second time in as many years, a Scotts Valley entrepreneur has launched a diet supplement in the form of a beverage concocted specifically for a certain sport or activity.

A private celebration was held in June for San Lorenzo Valley High School graduate David Lucero died last month in San Jose. He was 37.
SLVHS Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament Fundraiser
On Saturday, October 24, the SLVHS Cougar Basketball team will be hosting a poker tournament in hopes of raising money for this season. Dinner will be served from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. and poker starts at 6:00 p.m. at Felton Community Hall, 6191 Hwy. 9. Normal price is $100, but the first 50 people to sign-up and pay can get $25 off and only pay $75 for dinner and night of poker and fun.
State of the City in Scotts Valley
Scotts Valley Mayor Donna Lind has released a “State of the City” report, stating that “with hard work and community support, the city’s economy is strengthening and businesses are returning to Scotts Valley.”
