Vickie Clark has been promoted to chief business official of the Scotts Valley Unified School District, following the departure of Karen Jelcick several months ago.

Former Bethany Bible College student Mary Louise Noble Hays died Friday, Dec. 9, at her home in Colorado Springs, Colo., with her husband at her side.

John C. Van Diepen March 27, 1951 — Dec. 11, 2011

J.C. Van Diepen, who raised a large family in Scotts Valley, died as the result of an accident Sunday, Dec. 11. He was 60.
