Veterans Memorial Building remains shuttered

It’s been more than 15 months since the County of Santa Cruz shut the doors of the Veterans Memorial Building in downtown Santa Cruz, and the date for it to re-open is anyone’s guess.

Former Felton resident Margot A. Sekkel died May 23 in Capitola at the age of 92 with her family and friends by her side.

Library lease hammered out

After an 11th-hour delay in finalizing the lease agreement between the city of Scotts Valley and the county of Santa Cruz for the new library branch on Kings Village Road, the deal is set to move forward pending a vote of the Library Joint Powers Board set for Monday, June 6.
