Area clerks busted for selling alcohol to minors

Five Scotts Valley retail clerks were cited for selling alcohol to minors Friday, Feb. 25, after underage decoys working with the Scotts Valley Police Department ran a sting operation at 10 local shops.

Mending horses and hearts

A recently painted mural of Cookie, a rescued horse, adorns the wall of one of the first stables at the Covered Bridge Equestrian Center in Felton. The mural was painted by Theresa Patzke Guiver as a tribute to Felton’s Michelle Lamelin, the founder of Mending Hearts horse rescue, for her work with horses and children.

Sheriff’s deputies have arrested the owner of a blighted property at 138 Felton Empire Road in Felton on suspicion of possessing ammunition after a woman who shares his home was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and cocaine for sale.
