Annette Marcum sits in her Ben Lomond office every day making phone calls to service clubs, churches, food banks and her numerous contacts to coordinate the latest effort to provide for the least fortunate in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Several students who won a recent poster contest were picked up from local schools Friday, Oct. 29, by Scotts Valley police in their S.W.A.T. truck and taken to lunch at Bruno’s BBQ. The students had created posters with the theme of living a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

No one was seriously injured when a valley teenager rolled a vehicle with three other teens inside during school hours last week.

A memorial service will be later this month for longtime Felton resident Joan S. Jones, who died Oct. 27 in San Luis Obispo. She was 80.
