Scotts Valley-based Empty Nest Travel Club will host a free light lunch and travel talk at 1 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Scotts Valley Senior Center, 370 Kings Village Road.

Crisp autumn nights are the norm in Scotts Valley and the San Lorenzo Valley, and as winter approaches, the flu bug begins to strike.

Private services are planned for Maydene Adair Petty, who died Sunday, Oct. 4, at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose after a six-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Scotts Valley 4-H is a place where young people, ages 7 through 19, have many opportunities to build confidence, learn responsibility, and develop skills that will last a lifetime. It’s a place where youth make friends and share interests, from rabbits to rockets. It’s a place where youth work together to make a positive difference in their community, and adult volunteers make a powerful difference in the lives of young people.
