Fall ball starts up in Scotts Valley
Scotts Valley Little League will begin its Fall Ball baseball program on Sunday afternoons starting September 18 at the Scotts Valley Little League fields at Vine Hill Elementary School and Siltanen Park. Fall ball is for kids age 5 to 12.
Program consists of skills training and practice games. The cost is $25 for T-ballers in 1-hour sessions and $40 for all other levels for 2-plus hour sessions.

SV Bocce league crowns co-champions
Al’s Pals, the winner of the Monday, Wednesday league and the Apple Valley Rollers, the winners of the Tuesday, Thursday league played to a tie for the Scotts Valley Parks and Recreation Bocce ball championship on Sept. 1.
For the championship, each team won one game and tied the last game due to a time limit.
They teams were the top two of 16 teams who played during the summer season.
Members of Al’s Pals are Al Telles, Tom Walsh, Steve Bogner, Nick Karro, Bill Schraft and Gary Cramer. Members of Apple Valley Rollers are Mike and Erin Vierhus, Steve and Elizabeth Hammack, Emily Doub, Mark and Jeryyne King, and Mary Jane O’Harah. The league director is Paul Chapin.
SV summer softball championships to be played
Several championship softball games will be played next week at Siltanen Park in Scotts Valley to crown the winners of the Scotts Valley Recreation summer softball leagues.
In the Tuesday night co-ed recreational league, Wreckless will play Christian Life Center at 6:45 p.m. on Sept. 13. In the Wednesday night men’s league, the third and second place teams, still to be determined as of press time, will face off at 6 p.m. on Sept. 14 and the winner will play the first place team at 7:30 that night.
In the Thursday night co-ed recreational league, Half Nuts take on Fred and Debbie Zanotto’s team at 6:45 p.m. on Sept. 15 for the championship.
Spectators are welcome. The winning teams receive t-shirts.
