Brendon Alan Youmans
July 14, 1992 to September 8, 2014
Brendon Alan Youmans, 22, of Boulder Creek, passed away on Sept. 8, 2014, as a result of a tragic motor vehicle accident.
He was born on July 14, 1992 in Santa Cruz to his parents, Michael Youmans and Karen (Youmans) Mittan.
He spent his childhood in Boulder Creek. In 2010, he graduated from San Lorenzo Valley High School, where he was team captain of the Cougars’ roller hockey team.
After graduation, he attended some classes at West Valley Community College. Brendon also worked at the Scotts Valley Market in the deli and meat departments.
Brendon’s passion was hockey and had been playing since the age of 4 years old. He played on several competitive teams at the former Scotts Valley Sports Center and at Silver Creek Sportsplex in San Jose.
On the floor and off, he had made many friends over the years. He was well-known for his competitive spirit, kind heart, infectious smile, and his ability to make people laugh.
Brendon is survived by his parents Mike Youmans, Mike and Karen Mittan; his sisters Alyssa Youmans, Kristin Harper, Shana Sullivan, Nisa Lanoue, CeNedra Lanoue, and his brother Michael Mittan.
He also is survived by his maternal grandparents, Tami Kelly, Terry Quival and Jeanne Allshouse. Brendon also will be missed by his loving aunts, uncles, cousins, niece, and many close friends.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. at Twin Lakes Church in Aptos. Attendees are encouraged to wear jerseys, or any sports team clothing.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the Silver Creek Sportsplex Foundation.
Brendon volunteered for this foundation and had close teammates that, without their grants, would never have been able to play competitive sports.
