Ivan Frederick Smith died peacefully in his home in Boulder Creek on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014. He was 86 years old.
He will be remembered for his love of family, his kindness to friends, and his impeccable integrity.
Ivan “Rebel” Smith was born on Aug. 17, 1928 in Hammond, Ind. He moved to New Orleans at an early age, which fostered his love of Jazz.
He enlisted in the Army and was a WWII veteran — part of the Occupation Army in Japan.
He moved to California and worked in the aerospace industry as a nuclear engineer.
In 1987, he moved to Boulder Creek with his wife, Diane, where they ran a local store called “The Chase.”
He is survived by his wife, Diane, five children, 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and his beloved Pomeranian, “Puff.”
When asked how he was doing he would always answer: “Everything is wonderful in Ivan’s life.”
I know can speak for others when I say everybody’s life was more wonderful because of Ivan Smith.
There will be a service for family and friends in Boulder Creek, on Saturday, Nov. 22.
