James A. ‘Jimmy-Dean’ Thorell

On Oct 6, 2014, the Valley lost a legend.
James Andrew Thorell, known to all as “Jimmy-Dean,” died unexpectedly at his home in Boulder Creek. He was 51.
Born in San Francisco on March 13, 1963, Jimmy was well-known throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains for his physical strength and quick moves, along with his natural talent of always prevailing. Jimmy was able to fight his way through the harder times and be a better man for it.
With his kind heart and charming sense of humor, Jimmy will hold a special place in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
It was his easygoing and friendly manner that always made an impression never to be forgotten.
Jimmy is survived by Crystal Coy, his longtime companion and the love of his life; his daughter, Cassandra Lynn Thorell; his sons, Jared and Wyatt Travis; and his grandson Anthony James Estes.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Dorothy Thorell; his brother Carl “Butch”; and his sisters, DeeDee and Sissy.
There will be a celebration of Jimmy’s life at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 12 Haven Lane in Boulder Creek.
