Mark Steven Beck
April 25, 1958 to November 3, 2014
Mark Steven Beck, 56, of Boulder Creek, unexpectedly passed away on Nov. 3, 2014 due to complications of Type I diabetes. Although he is home with the Lord, he will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Born in Washington state, Mark grew up in Santa Clara County, and as an adult, lived in Colorado Springs, Japan, and Boulder Creek.
He attended Chico State University, and like his father before him, pursued a career in engineering.
Mark’s wonderful qualities endeared him to others, and he made friends easily. He was kind, decent, humble, hardworking, and good-natured. He had a gentle demeanor, easygoing nature, and a tender heart.
Mark had a passion for cars, old movies, talk radio, cooking, Bible study, and good conversation. He enjoyed working with his hands, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.
He considered himself to be a very blessed man. He showed his love for others by serving and doing things for them, always with a smile on his face, never asking anything in return. He especially cherished his role of husband and father, often expressing his love and affection for “all my girls.”
In his later years, Mark’s greatest passion and pursuit was his relationship with Jesus Christ, and it gave him purpose, joy, and peace. He attended Twin Lakes Church in Aptos and Boulder Creek Community Church.
Mark is survived by his wife, Debbie; daughters Lauren, Rachel, and Sabrina; siblings Mary, Jennifer, Lisa, and David; mother-in-law, Diane; father-in-law, Dee and his wife, Lynn; brothers-in-law Mike, Dave, and Kenny; sisters-in-law Christina and Laura; his nieces, nephews, and many extended family members and treasured friends.
He is predeceased by his parents, Clifford and Gertrude, and his first wife, Lisa.
A funeral service and burial were held on November 15 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos.
