A private committal service will be held for former Felton resident Michele Berritto who died at home in Capitola last month. She was 63 years old.
Born in Istres, France, Ms. Berritto was a resident of Santa Clara County before moving to Felton, and then to Capitola. As a resident of Santa Cruz County for 13 years, she worked for Community Options and the San Andreas Regional Center.
Ms. Berritto was a fan of Elvis, Marilyn Monroe and James Dean and decorated her home in the 1950’s style and often listened to music and watched movies from the era. Friends and family knew her for her stylish clothes, colorful makeup and jewelry.
She enjoyed colorful drawings and artwork, which was seen at Villa Montalvo art expositions.
An avid lover of the performing arts, Ms. Berritto performed in numerous plays, walked the catwalk in fashion shows and enjoyed belly dancing.
She is survived by her four sisters, Danielle Bellini of Modesto, Laura Johnston of Santa Clara, Patricia Flanery of Santa Clara, Mary Ann McKenzie of Bothel, Wash. and brother, Michael Berritto III of Felton; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She will be laid to rest at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno beside her parents, Michael Berritto Jr. (U.S. Air Force, retired) and Laura Gonzales Berritto. Any kind acts of charity may be made in her memory to San Andreas Regional Center, 1110 Main Street, Watsonville, CA 95076.
