A celebration of life will be held in Boulder Creek this weekend for longtime resident Peggy Lee Ashford who died last month. She was 62.
Mrs. Ashford was born in Duluth, Minnesota and her family moved to Denver, Colo. for junior high school. She became a resident of Boulder Creek in 1967 when her family had their sons and built a home.
Family said Mrs. Ashford loved mountain living among the redwoods. They said she was provided a safe, warm home available for those in need of refuge and conversation.
She loved music and was known for her beautiful voice. She was a member of the Santa Cruz Blue Grass Society.
She is survived by brothers Jerome Blackwell and Kenneth Blackwell of Hollywood; sons Richard Ashford and David Ashford of Boulder Creek and a grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her mother Agatha Blackwell and brother Patrick Blackwell.
The celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14 at Boulder Creek Golf and Country Club, 16901 Big Basin Highway in Boulder Creek.
