Rev. Dr. Brian Patrick Hall

A memorial service will be held Saturday for Rev. Dr. Brian Patrick Hall who died peacefully last month.
Dr. Hall was born in East Ham, UK to Leonard Wilfred Hall and Elsie Florence Ross. He immigrated to Canada to complete his undergraduate and theological studies.
He was ordained an Episcopal priest and went on a mission to Latin America in 1965.
He was the founder and president of Values Technology, a consulting group that applies research in consciousness development and the measurement of values to a variety of fields.
Dr. Hall published more than 25 books and major articles on values. He began his values work and research as a missionary in Cuernavaca, Mexico and in San Jose, Costa Rica. He accepted an invitation to join the faculty at Santa Clara University where he served from 1979 until 1996 as a tenured professor.
As a hobby, wrote fairy tales including Nog’s Vision and the Wizard of Maldoon, which incorporated some of his most serious research findings.
Dr. Hall attended St. Phillips Episcopal Church in Scotts Valley during his last years.
He is survived by his wife, Elva Castañeda de Hall of Santa Cruz; his children, Christina Brandt of Santa Cruz and Martin Hall of Napa, and five grandchildren. He is also survived by Diane Hall, the mother of his children, of Eugene, Ore.; sister Angela Dunlop and husband Edward of Caerphilly, Whales, their daughter Nikki Kester and her husband Steve and their children of England.
The memorial service will be held at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 5271 Scotts Valley Drive in Scotts Valley at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 23. Rev. Mary Blessing, Pastor will preside, assisted by Rev. Ronald Carignan, OMI from San Antonio.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Mary’s College of California Leadership Scholarship Fund in honor of his colleague and friend Dr. Dean Elias.
