Sandra Beddow
September 29, 1940 to September 22, 2014
Sandra Rae Beddow passed away on Monday, Sept. 22, 2014 after a valiant battle with cancer.
The eternal optimist, she touched many lives with her compassionate nature, her sunny disposition, and her great love of life and family.
Sandy was born in San Francisco, a fourth-generation native Californian and Daughter of the American Revolution.
She graduated from Carlmont High School in San Carlos and married her high school sweetheart, Ken.
She raised three children — Lisa, K.C. and Mickey — before embarking on a successful career in banking, and then hospitality.
She was employed by Bank of America as a manager and personal banker in Ben Lomond, Scotts Valley, Santa Cruz, Saratoga and headed up the conversion team for Bank of America in Honolulu.
Before her retirement, she worked as the Director of the Molokai Visitor Association. She was an active volunteer throughout her life, including PTA president, Homeowner Association President, Habitat for Humanity volunteer (in Hawaii), and, most recently, as a docent for one of the sea turtle refuges in Hawaii.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband, Ken; daughter Lisa and son-in-law Rick Fletcher of Aptos; son K.C. and daughter-in-law Maureen Beddow of Felton; and son Mickey and daughter-in-law Mary Beddow of Watsonville.
She is also survived by her nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to an open-house celebration of her life on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 12 to 6 p.m. at the family homestead.
