Boulder Creek Pizza and Pub will donate $2,000 to charity this December, and the owner, Justin Acton has asked for the public’s input to determine which local organizations it will go to.
“This year was a little bit of a better year for a lot of people,” Acton said. “We were able to save some each month, and we were a little busier this year.”
Acton has set up a democratic way to dole out the money. He’s taking recommendations for local’s favorite charity groups and will donate $1,000 to the most-mentioned charity and $1,000 to the charity who inspires the nominating person to write the best reason to support it.
Nominations including the name of the charity and the reason the voter likes it, can be submitted to Acton at the pizza parlor, 13200-B Highway 9 in Boulder Creek, or by contacting the restaurant on Facebook or through the website at www.bcpizzapub.com.
Acton said his father, Jeff Acton, has inspired him to donate to those who are in need. “My Dad did pizza for over 30 years,” Acton said. Every year he has always donated and picked different charities and he’s kind of instilled that in me.”
Acton said he will be accepting votes and charity descriptions through Sunday, Dec. 15 and will make the donations that week.
