In what was described as a prank that escalated, an altercation between members of the Felton Fire Protection District and Ben Lomond Fire Protection District took place on the evening of Friday, Dec. 6.
The chiefs of both agencies were tight-lipped about the incident, but, according to Felton Chief Ron Rickabaugh, at approximately 9 p.m., several personal vehicles belonging to Felton Fire crew members were sprayed with fire extinguishers while the owners were inside for a holiday celebration at the district’s Felton headquarters. A physical altercation then ensued when the vehicles were spotted.
Rickabaugh said the there was no property damage, and “minor injuries at most” were sustained during the fracas.
Ben Lomond Fire Chief Stacie Brownlee declined to comment and said that the incident was under investigation.
Deputy Ryan Kennedy of the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office said that no report had been made of the incident.
