A 350-acre prescribed burn in Big Basin Redwoods State Park will begin Tuesday, Nov. 5 and may continue for the next two weeks if conditions allow.
Resident in Boulder Creek, Ben Lomond and Brookdale may see plumes of smoke and smoke may settle in the area, according to California State Parks officials.
The burn is being conducted where Gazos Creek Road and Johanson Road meet inside the park to reduce the threat of wildfire and enhance natural resources inside the park.
The area may be closed for several days during the burn which will continue until extinguished by winter rains. However, the burn will be monitored and controlled by State Parks crews in conjunction with Cal Fire.
