The Press-Banner will close its office in Scotts Valley for business on Fridays, effective immediately, as the newspaper takes steps to weather the recession.
Editorial and business employees will work four-day weeks.
“Times are tough, and we aren’t immune to the impact of the economic downturn,” General Manager Amanda Matthews said. “For now, it is necessary to cut costs, and we’re all looking forward to returning to a normal schedule in the future.”
The Press-Banner will continue to publish weekly on Fridays with no reduction in news coverage, Editor Chuck Anderson said.
