Christmas is right around the corner and is already filling the streets with cheerful decorations, lights and laughter. While all of this is fun, the hardest part of this time of the year can be shopping for presents for others.
I'll bet if you walk around your yard, you'll find mushrooms poking through the soil under trees, between shrubs and even next to the driveway. This has been a banner year for fungi, with soft soaking rains every week or so while the soil is still warm. The same cluster of dark brown mushrooms has come up again just outside my front door. During the long warm summer days, I love the easy no-dish cooking method of throwing everything out on the grill for dinner. But now that the days are getting shorter and it’s not so warm out, I’ve turned to my oven instead.
