Shout-out: Fire department’s swift response to wildfire is commendable
Scotts Valley Fire Department and CAL Fire, thank you for once again doing an outstanding job saving the properties in our Bethany University neighborhood. The recent fire (on Tuesday Sept. 24) was contained within minutes! I am continually impressed at your professionalism and capabilities. It makes me feel proud and safe to live in this City.
It’s the law: What happens with wacky tenants
I represent a lot of residential and commercial landlords and, occasionally, a tenant or two. While much of this work is mundane, such as reviewing leases or advising landlords on the intricacies of security deposits, once in a while an eviction (unlawful detainers in legal parlance) livens things up. As the expression goes, “Keep Santa Cruz Weird.” Tenants are not necessarily excluded from this philosophy.
