Any music fan will tell you the value of having a bar — or several — in the community. Besides being generally safe, vibrant places to meet and socialize, they are often the only places where one can see live popular music.

I am writing in response to the letter supporting Jim Hart. I do not know Jim Hart, nor do I know Roger Wildey.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting my healthy 95-year-old aunt Grace, and then I thought about my 97-year-old neighbor Vic, and it made me realize just how amazing the human body is to keep functioning for so many years. I am awestruck by this body of ours that began with just two microscopic cells coming together and developing into a complex living organism made up of some 75 trillion cells, many of which have specialized to perform amazing functions, making us the incredible beings that we are.

Remy Patrick Platero, a 7-pound, 1-ounce boy was born to Sarah Marie (Sanchez) and Richard Patrick Platero of Scotts Valley at Sutter Maternity and Surgery Center. He was born at 12:19 a.m. on July 19, 2014.
