Remy Patrick Platero, a 7-pound, 1-ounce boy was born to Sarah Marie (Sanchez) and Richard Patrick Platero of Scotts Valley at Sutter Maternity and Surgery Center. He was born at 12:19 a.m. on July 19, 2014.

Kiwanis of the Valleys

Scotts Valley voted last month to spend $35 million on its public schools with a goal of maintaining the district’s excellent record of sending 97 percent of its students to college.

The San Lorenzo Valley High School pool will be playing host the 2014 USA Water Polo National Junior Olympics, which are set to begin on Saturday, July 26, and continue until Sunday, Aug. 3.
