Chris Greenly, a 24-year-old Santa Cruz resident who grew up in the San Lorenzo Valley, remained in critical condition this week, recovering from surgery after being seriously injured in a one-car accident in Ben Lomond on Nov. 21. His family reported this week that his Dec. 14 surgery went well and that his condition was improving.On Dec. 18, a benefit disc golf tournament at Black Mouse Disc Golf Course in Felton drew a record number of competitors – 82 – and raised more than $5,000 to help with Greenly’e medical expenses, through donations, raffle tickets and the sale of “Team Greenly” discs.A Gofundme account set up in Facebook in Greenly’s behalf had raised more than $22,000 in 20 days, with 199 contributors.Supporters said the campaign was trending, and was shared by 1,500 people. A Press Banner article posted on pressbanner.com was visited by more than 1,300 people in less than a week.
The Felton Covered Bridge, a national historic structure built in 1892, will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec.17, in a daylong community party, complete with music, wine and beer, food, crafts and holiday merchandise.
