Bus burns on Highway 17
On September 9, at about 5:30 p.m., a bus carrying 54 children caught on fire. The children in grades ranging from elementary to high school were part of a singing group from Palo Alto, and were traveling to Santa Cruz.

Music on the Mountain, a big hit
On September 13, the Performing Arts Center at San LorenzoValleyHigh School was filled to capacity with people waiting to hear Michel Singher conduct Espressivo. The music that was played represented 18th, 19th and 20th century composers. West Nile virus infected horse east of Watsonville
The California Department of Food and Agriculture announced confirmation of a case of West Nile virus in a horse east of Watsonville. Spread by mosquitoes, West Nile is a bird can also infect people and animals. In Santa CruzCounty, this is the first case reported in 2015.
