The San Lorenzo Valley High Cougars will look to rebound at Piedmont High School on Saturday, Sept. 11, after falling 24-7 to Sacred Heart Prep of Atherton in both teams’ first game of the season Sept. 4.

I’m helping my friend Colly, the food columnist for the Press Banner, with her cooking class at the new Boys & Girls Club in Scotts Valley. Colly has planned a summer program filled with delicious recipes and I’m looking forward to learning along with the kids in the class. The first week was all about eggs. The 44th annual Race Thru the Redwoods will take place in Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park on Sunday, Aug. 19. The 10-kilometer run begins at 8:30 a.m.

Martial arts instructor Elliot Stone was at Scotts Valley High School nearly all day Tuesday showing P.E. students how to defend themselves if they are ever attacked, and even better, how to avoid the situation all together.
