A multigenerational contingent of martial artists from Santa Cruz Mountains Jiu-Jitsu descended upon the 19th annual U.S. Open Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament last weekend in Santa Cruz — and brought back a display case worth of medals.

The Scotts Valley Middle School cross country team put the finishing touches on a stellar Central Coast Athletic League season on Friday, Oct. 17, as four of the school’s six teams placed first in their respective categories at the 2014 Championship Meet, held at San Lorenzo Valley High School.
