It’s the law: Criminal and civil trespass

In my most recent column, I wrote about wandering through an unfinished shopping center with my friends when a security guard started roaring epithets at us and gave chase (Page 12, Nov. 30). Under great fear, we kids narrowly escaped. The question is whether we were trespassing.

The San Lorenzo River crested at 24 feet just before Christmas and now flows with ease through the valley. The river flows have been high, but the water color is clear and the flow is healthy. And the big rains of December brought large steelhead from Central to Northern California.

- Nick Jensen Wilson was born at 3:23 p.m. Dec. 19, 2012, to Stacy Lynn and Devon Howard Wilson of Scotts Valley. He weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces when he was born at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz.
