The Mountain Gardener: Spring to-dos in the garden
The rain last week was welcomed by all of us who like to watch things grow. There's a patch of grass growing beside a creek where I live that is the brightest neon green I've ever seen. Whether you call it apple green, lime green or chartreuse, it shouts that spring officially started Tuesday, March 20, the vernal equinox.

San Lorenzo Valley Little League held its annual Opening Day celebration on Saturday, March 10. Highlights of the ceremony included key note speaker Sam Robustelli's speech and a breathtaking performance of the "Star-Spangled Banner" by sisters Sydney and Naomi Gorham. A-ball player Joshua Rudrow threw the first pitch directly into the glove of San Jose' Giants' mascot Gigante' and one lucky family won four tickets to see the San Francisco Giants play.
