Editor’s notebook: Calling all lemons

The wedding is less than two weeks away and there are several thoughts swirling through my head. Top of the list: Where can I find a good hamburger? Actually, that question arises only at lunchtime and I don’t think it’s wedding-related. Here’s a sampling of what’s going on in my brain in the days leading up to the ceremony:

Logothetti, Vermette to wed

An October wedding is planned for Heidi Marie Logothetti and David Curtis Vermette of Sterling, Va. The bride-to-be is the daughter of the late Dr. David E. Logothetti, who taught mathematics at Santa Clara University, and Faith Logothetti of Felton.

Cougars and Falcons wrap up golfing season

Scotts Valley High freshman Colton Marshall led the valley golfers at the Santa Cruz County Athletic League finals at Pasatiempo Golf Course on Tuesday, May 3. Marshall shot a 97 on the 18 hole course and finished No. 6 overall behind Harbor Highs Matt Imel, who shot a 7-over-par 77 on the day to win the SCCAL title.

Sustainable living: Tough choices for over-the-hill commuters

Anyone who relies on a car to make ends meet (that is, nearly everyone in the U.S.) knows that gasoline is quickly approaching the $5 mark and may hit $6 a gallon by the end of the summer. With the lack of jobs in Santa Cruz County, especially in San Lorenzo Valley, we simply don’t have many choices other than driving “over the hill” for a paycheck.
