Bechtel catches fire at tournament

San Lorenzo Valley High junior Blake Bechtel sank five 3-pointers and scored 39 points as he led the Cougars to the consolation championship over Watsonville, 74-53, in the 54th annual Dad’s Club Tournament.

• Finn Whittaker Lonsdale was born to Megan and Patrick Lonsdale of Ben Lomond at 11:13 a.m. Sept. 4, 2009, at home. He weighed 9 pounds, 2 ounces.

Lightening the load

Buffalo Bills rookie offensive lineman and 2003 San Lorenzo Valley High School graduate Andy Levitre donated $5,000 to San Lorenzo Valley High School to help build stadium lights at the school’s sports complex.
